The group consists of librarians, information specialists, and other specialists working in agricultural institutions. It was founded on June 11,1972 with postal address at the University Library, UP Los Banos, College, Laguna.

37th Anniversary and General Assembly May 28, 2009

In celebration of the 37th Anniversary of the Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines, Inc (ALAP), a forum on “The Evolving Roles of Librarians and Information Providers in the Electronic Age” will be held on June 5, 2009 at the UPLB Main Library, Los Baños, Laguna. There is a registration fee of Php300 (ALAP members) and Php400 (non-ALAP members) to cover miscellaneous expenses including snacks and lunch. The program officially starts at 8:00am.

The forum will highlight new trends discussed in the 14th CONSAL to keep librarians and information specialists updated on the Asian scene. Speakers are Ms. Mila M. Ramos of the IRRI Library and Mr. Nehemias A. Pasamba of Mission College-Thailand.

The General Assembly of ALAP members will follow after the forum.

 

GA and Forum on Open Resources for Librarians in the Digital Age June 5, 2008

The Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines, Inc (ALAP) has organized a Forum on “Open Resources for Librarians in the Digital Age” on June 6, 2008 at the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT) Library, UP Los Baños, Laguna. There is a registration fee of Php200 (to cover snacks, lunch, handouts and certificates) and the program officially starts at 8:45am.

Speakers include Mr. Chito N. Angeles who will talk about “Open Resources for Libraries in the Digital Age”, Ms. Kristine E. Mandigma who will share about “WikiPilipinas: Philippine Encyclopedia” and Ms. Susima L. Gonzales who will give some PLAI Updates.

The General Assembly of ALAP members will follow after the forum.

Enhancing the Capacity of Information Professionals February 23, 2008

The Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines (ALAP) organized a Seminar-Workshop on “Enhancing the Capacity of Information Professionals for Effective Agricultural Information Management, Sharing and Dissemination” last February 21-22, 2008 at the Benguet State University.

The seminar-workshop was sponsored by FAO for PhilAgriNet (Philippine Agricultural Libraries and Information Services Network) member thus limiting the number of participants to 40. The seminar fee was collected Php2,500 for registration, food and accommodation, handouts, certificates and socials.

The theme of the forum is “ALAP @ 35: Empowering Information Professionals for Library 2.0“. The forum aims to update librarians and information managers on the new path of the profession and current applications of information communication technologies (ICTs) on library services. In addition, this occasion will also serve as a reunion of all ALAP members in the country, see program for details. Forum fee is P100 for members and P150 for non-members (to cover snacks, lunch, handouts and certificate).
